How did flappers wear their hair? – Flapper Dress Costume Near Me

The story gets a little complicated. Flappers did this because they thought their style looked neat and clean with their hair. However, during the 20th and 21st centuries, they started to style it in different ways. The first thing most flappers did was cut their hair short or blow out their natural hair to make themselves look more glamorous.

What was the “blow-up?”

Before the 1950s, hairstyles for women were either blow-dried or shaved. For the first time in history, women began to wear their hair in layers. That is, if you wanted a long, flowing updo, you would probably end up wearing it in a “whiskered” style.

You might notice a major shift in hairstyles in the 1930s, like this white-haired bombshell (pictured above) and her white-shirted counterpart (left). She also has no hair under her chin (right), which is sometimes referred to as a “crowning flourish.”

This blonde cutaway has been worn by both short and long-haired flappers over the years. It also appears in 1950s photos of the same woman (and man).

What do today’s women’s hairstyles look like?

Today’s hairstyles are very different, but many of them are very similar to the hairstyles of the 1930s. Here is a group of examples of contemporary women’s hairstyles.

First, we have a pair of simple, slightly flared extensions that look a lot like the hairstyles of the 1930s.

In our previous post, we mentioned that today’s hairstyles seem almost more like a hairstyle trend, rather than a style. We don’t know what all of them mean yet, but if their definition is as basic as you’d expect and doesn’t include long curls or buns, then they may be just as popular as they were back in the 1940s.

The second group of examples is a bit more creative, but still looks a lot like hair extensions today. This is because it’s a more formal look that is often paired with tight-fitting tops.

One difference between this style and the earlier flappers’ styles is that these women have natural long, straight hair that is usually in a ponytail and looks very pretty in the end.

Lastly, here is a girl in an extremely dramatic way that looks a lot like 1950s flapper style.
