A.K.A. Yojirushi (黒船身) (born October 27, 1963 in Saitama Prefecture) Japanese actor and director. Born in Saitama Prefecture, Japan, he studied at Aoyama Junior High School, Kyukushiki Junior High School, and Sango High School. He received his B.A. degree in English literature and French literature from Kyoto University in 1966.[1]
He is a prolific film director. Born in Tokyo, Japan in 1974, he graduated from Tokyo National University School of Fine Arts in 1980 and the National Institute for Fine Arts in 1988, where he received his M.F.A. in Cinema Studies in 1991.[2] His first film, “The Last of Nichi”, was released in Japan in 1990.[citation needed] His film “The Last of Nichi” starred Miyuki Sawashiro and Koshirō Yamaguchi, and was released in the United States on December 3, 1994.[3] Later, in the late 1990s, his films began to appear in other countries. Among these films, he released several independent films including “Nanjo-san no Arawamu (The Night of the Rabbit)” in 1996, “Nanjo-san no Gengai (The Moon of Night)” in 1997 , “Chari-sai (The Secret Castle)” in 1999 , “Tsuki no Aso” in 2000 , “Chōgakusha (Snow Sky) in 2001 , and “Chōgakusha (Snow Sky)” in 2002.
Yojirushi was born and raised in Saitama Prefecture, however, after receiving a B.A. in English literature from Kyoto University, he began working in Tokyo as a screenwriter and storyboard artist. He studied the script of the films he created in the 1980s as well as screenwriting courses at Tokyo National University as a graduate student.
Yojirushi began directing in 1987, co-writing the films “Aku no Saki” (The Last of The Brave) and “Nanjo-san no Arawamu (The Midnight of the Rabbit)” (1989) before directing other films after the early 1990s. He directed two more anime films that were distributed on DVD beginning in 1999 (he directed the director’s cut and the theatrical version), and his first
