It’ll be a girl,” she told the BBC. “I want to do it.”
The singer said that she would be willing to dance “as long as it is not as bad as [her] old music” but stressed that it has never been her intention to sound “like some guy singing girl songs,” as many people have speculated after the release. “I don’t care if people think I’m singing my old tracks when it’s not my purpose and this time I wanted to keep music as what made me the person I am today. I wanted to write something new.”
Fellow UK radio host Graham Norton said that he was impressed with her performance. “I’ve heard her singing the old songs and I don’t think that’s what you’d call a good set, because there’s nothing that is new,” he told the Guardian. “If you think about this all that has happened in hip hop since 1996 is that there is a new generation growing up singing stuff, and it’s becoming more sophisticated, that is what they are bringing into the room.”
The World Health Organization has been warning that a small study of Chinese people who didn’t get vaccinated against measles shows a link between childhood immunization and increased risks of autism in later life.
The study, published in the April 26 issue of JAMA Pediatrics, followed 1,957 children born in China’s Shaanxi Province between 1998 and 2007.
Researchers evaluated autism symptoms in both children who were vaccinated and those who weren’t, and found a stronger association between childhood MMR vaccination and autism symptoms later in life. However, there was no link between MMR vaccination for boys and autism symptoms in girls, and not enough children in both vaccines groups had autism symptoms before the age of 21.
“This study is the first to demonstrate a causal association between childhood immunization and subsequent developmental deficits in autism, and provides support for an MMR vaccine and developmental disability hypothesis. Further investigation is needed to understand how a possible MMR vaccine-autism link might be linked to multiple exposures over the course of childhood.” Dr. Michael E. Frieden, M.D., F.C.C.P.
Although all children who received the measles, mumps-rubella vaccine in China between 1998 and 2007 had symptoms that did not fit typical developmental categories, those who were unvaccinated in this small cohort were more likely to have autism symptoms — including autistic behaviors and stereotypy — at age 21 compared with children who had received the vaccine.
