The most creative one would be probably Beyonce. Not only because she is so talented but also from a professional standpoint. She works with a few people at the studio and she’s kind of like a mom right? She knows a whole lot about dancers. I think she’s very professional. I remember working with a few of the guys and he’s like, ‘You know what else, you’ve got to get your shit in when you get to this track.’ I’m like ‘Are you fuckin’ serious?’ And he goes, ‘Yeah, I am.’ He works with me on all of my tracks. He’s very, very professional and I think that’s probably really cool.
What are the biggest challenges about doing collaborations?
I think it just comes with the territory of collaborating with artists who come from different backgrounds. They come from different places and that’s what we’ve worked on in the past. Obviously, we’ve made tracks together before that we’d go back to and we’d make more and it wouldn’t be our favorite songs on there but we just ended up working together more because of the things that came out of it. I just know that the process is a whole other skill set and people in music are talented so if they want to write something I’m definitely going to work with them because they’re talented in their instrument.
I was thinking this other weekend — all of us doing rap together and the most popular thing was the Kanye and Tidal song. I was wondering what’s next? I’m guessing they’ll still put out Tidal. I can only imagine it will get bigger and better. I feel like one of the big things that will happen in the future is the whole K-dot thing. I’m so excited for it — like Tidal got bigger and is bigger and better than ever. As soon as the K-dot guys start to hit that big level, it’s going to explode. It will be a lot of fun for sure.
I was listening to a recent interview with Young Thug. I’d heard him mentioned in one of the clips but wasn’t quite sure where he was in relation to your music. Is that possible?
I would say that it’s possible. I think he is definitely on the journey and that’s what I’m excited about. I know he’s a dope dude.
