For all the advice on how to do tattooing realistically, here are a handful of tips that will help you get the best results:
Take the time to learn the anatomy and techniques of the skin underneath your designs. Even the thinest designs may not have the exact surface area you want.
Try a variety of color options for the tattoos you choose.
The process will feel different for everyone. So if you’re unsure which options will look best in your tattoo, try some more and compare your results before your next appointment.
Always take care of your skin and do a thorough post-tattoo cleanup, and then don’t forget to wear protective materials when doing your own makeup.
What do you feel most comfortable with?
If you’re not sure, here are a few of our favorite examples of realistic tattoo tattoos:
If you’re more comfortable with one of the other options above, don’t have as much experience or knowledge, or don’t like to do detailed art on your skin, you can always try some of these options:
More realistic portraits
If tattoos don’t feel your style — then we have a different style for you in our more realistic portrait tattoo style. The photo above is our classic “skeleton” portrait that was created by John B, whose full name is “Jeb” but which he doesn’t prefer to use. He prefers to say “I’m Jeb with a gun,” but he does like it.
If you’re more comfortable with the other options above, but don’t have as much experience with skin tattooing and/or you want to try a different style, it’s an option to explore.
