Most would say no. But even some regular players don’t do it: According to the FBI, more than 800 of the country’s 1,450 U.S. casino gambling establishments use blackjack to keep their doors open.
This isn’t just cheating, either. There is no reliable legal way to know who’s really up to it, said Matthew H. Leen, professor of law and medicine at the University of Michigan and leading expert on casino gambling and race. Even those players who do blackjack are only guessing, he explained. “They’re just guessing. They want to think it’s a bad idea,” he said.
(CNN) With the world’s first and only ever satellite phone service set to launch in late October, China plans to make a big play for the growing market for high-end messaging and calling products by spending in excess of $1.5 billion to make more than 500,000 cell-phone SIM cards.
China Telecom Corp. said this week it plans to spend more than $1.5 billion, according to estimates by the Financial Times, on the high-end China Mobile Communication Network, or CMCN; an internet-based version of the network that will offer messaging services as well as high-def digital media that can be downloaded on PCs or smartphones and streamed onto big-screen TVs.
At present China Telecom’s CMCN services include prepaid SIM cards that offer 2G and 3G mobile internet services, and unlimited data access, as well as calls and calls to and from overseas numbers.
It plans to expand the service by adding mobile broadband to the network, including high-speed and wide-area data services, to make it more “unlimited” and “affordable.”
CMCN also plans to develop software platforms and software services for businesses which require “continuous digital communication and business.”
This is China’s first satellite phone service. The country’s first Chinese-made telecommunications satellite has been launched. Weighing less than 300 grams (about 25 ounces) and covered in lithium-ion batteries, the satellite is designed to operate in low-earth orbit during China’s four year civil space mission.
China’s first mobile phone in space?
China’s only phone in space is the Qi-based “Qiming 4G” mobile phone developed by China Aerospace Science and Technology Engineering University.
The phone is aimed at mobile phone users who have limited or no access to the internet,
